Professional Development
Our team members are challenged every day by each other and the clients we serve. Individuals are encouraged to actively participate; SMC realizes that leadership is best developed by an environment of cooperative collaboration where individuals are recognized and everyone’s participation is welcomed.
Relationships
From the very beginning, our staff are encouraged to work closely with clients and to form meaningful relationships to achieve our goal of providing “exceptional client service” to all SMC clients. Our diversified approach to training, industry involvement, accounting, audit tax, and consulting engagements allows each employee to work with a majority of the senior staff and partners. Our goal is for all team members to act as business advisors for our clients, not just their auditors or their tax preparers.
Specialization
Along with providing traditional services, SMC performs nontraditional services as appropriate to enhance our clients’ profitability and to support their management focus. Specialization in service areas, or a particular industry, may occur as staff members gain in-depth expertise. In some cases, staff and partners may gravitate to a particular service or industry. When that happens, and it is mutually beneficial, the firm supports this specialization through training and by taking advantage of events and opportunities to strengthen this interest.
PKF Affiliation
SMC has a long standing association with PKF International. This membership association is comprised of more than 95 independent accounting and consulting firms within North America, and over 150 additional firms worldwide. This affiliation enables us to offer our staff the extraordinary training, networking, shared resources, technical assistance and niche tools that are demanded in today’s competitive environment. We are, in many ways, able to offer the services and resources of a national CPA firm without giving up the close relationships we have with our staff and clients.
