Soren McAdam Christenson LLP—Where the “Spirit of the Entrepreneur” still lives

As a sponsor for the Spirit of the Entrepreneur Awards 2005, Soren McAdam Christenson LLP (SMC) materially demonstrates its long history of assisting dynamic, growing businesses in the Inland Empire. David Harris, partner, continues his involvement in the program after serving as director of the Inland Empire Entrepreneur of the Year for five years. Harris became a partner at SMC after twenty years with Ernst and Young. He was the managing partner at EY in Riverside, prior to their office consolidation and move to Orange County. “I’m so pleased that I can continue to be involved, and that my new firm enthusiastically endorses the program,” said Harris.

Soren McAdam Christenson LLP has worked with hundreds of startup and entrepreneurial companies over the years, and hasn’t forgotten its roots in small business. “Even as one of the largest firms in the Inland Empire, we still value working with small businesses,” says Roger Wadell, Marketing Partner with SMC. So much so that SMC merged with Goddard Accountancy Corp. in 2004, bringing their substantial bookkeeping and accounting services practice in-house. “Many CPA firms focus only on the large firms as they grow. We see a mix as part of growing larger clients,” says Wadell.

Indeed, Soren McAdam Christenson LLP counts many of the sterling companies in the Inland Empire as clients. Having 25 CPA’s who can specialize by industry, expertise, and practice area, provides a deep knowledge-base for all but Fortune 1000 sized businesses, which are rare in the Inland Empire. Jim Soren, founding partner of the firm, says, “We’ve worked with all kinds of businesses and non-profits over the years. Sometimes the smaller entrepreneur is as much fun as the larger, established business. I like them all.”

Today, even smaller businesses occasionally need deep expertise, such as export-import, research and development tax credits for manufacturing, or construction bonding. Smaller firms typically cannot devote the time for a single CPA to keep up on all aspects of accounting—it’s just too big a job. SMC is a member of the PKF North American Network of CPA firms, so it can easily deal with national and international issues, such as how to pay taxes in China. Small companies can really benefit from expert advice, and smart entrepreneurs know they must have it for success. Soren McAdam Christenson LLP sees a continued bright future ahead for its practice and its clients.
